We can hardly say this too many times: At The Stockroom we love Halloween. Not only is it a great excuse to embrace your inner wickedness, but it’s perhaps the best night of the year to go all out and get dressed up in a costume. We spend all year coming up with fantastic costume ideas, so Halloween is kind of like our big night.
Adult model and performer Skin Diamond has displayed some of The Stockroom and Syren Latex’s best costume ideas at Exxxotica and other events, much to our delight and that of her audience. This Halloween, she’ll be debuting a brand new routine while showing off some of Syren’s finest finery at Bar Sinister’s 7th Annual Ghostly Halloween Ball. The ball is a sexy and spooky shindig which will be hosted by Skin and our own Head Mistress, Hudsy Hawn, and features performances by Bella Bathory, Wry, and Sunny Megatron and Ken Melvoin-Berg. To get a preview, we talked briefly to Skin about her love of kitty play, latex clothing, and dressing up for Halloween.
Stockroom: Tell us a little bit about the show that you’re doing at Bar Sinister this weekend.
Skin Diamond: I’m really excited about it because I’m going to be unveiling a whole new routine. I’ve been doing the kitty milk show at Exxxotica, but after Bar Sinister approached me wanting to do the show, I decided to step it up a notch. I’ve choreographed a whole longer routine now, so it’s not just like a simple striptease, more like a fetish-style burlesque striptease, and I’m going to be kitted out in Syren latex body suit and nipple pasties, and I have the catwoman mask and everything.
I am a personal fan of kitty play, so I already have a kitty tail that I make part of the show, but for this new show, Stockroom has created a whole new kitty tail that’s made out of latex and it’s inflatable, so it’s milkproof. It looks really, really cute and it goes with the whole outfit a lot better. The other one was more of a plushy kind, like a fake fur kind of tail. So I’m super-excited.
Stockroom: What is it you like particularly about kitty play?
Skin Diamond: I’m a cat lady. I’m a self-proclaimed cat-obsessed enthusiast. I have three cats, two of which are black cats. With my first Mistress that I ever had, my submissive name was Kitty, and I was going to be the cat of the D/s family. So that was where it kind of all started, and that was where the idea of kitty play kind of sparked in my brain. After that it just kind of became a thing.
With Stockroom, I’d been talking with them about doing my own kitty play line with like signature kitty tail butt plugs and ears and stuff. So, we’d been talking about that, and that was when Shawn [Gentry] from Stockroom approached me wanting to do a show, and I thought it would be a good idea to do a kitty play show; that way it helps plant the seed in peoples’ minds about kitty play and getting it more out there. It’s not as well-known as puppy play or piggy play or pony play. I feel like it’s a little bit less popular. So the idea was kind of to start stoking the flames of kitty play, and then it just grew into this show that I’ve now choreographed, and I’ve been building props, and doing this whole thing, so I’m really, really excited about unveiling it.
At the end of the year, I’m taking this show to Torture Garden in London for the New Years’ Eve ball. So that’s also super-exciting because that’s actually a dream of mine. I used to do the fashion shows for Torture Garden, so I’ve always loved Torture Garden, and I love the performances, and I always thought, back when I was 19, 20, that it would be really cool to one day have my own show there. So this year, New Year’s is going to be a huge deal for me.
Stockroom: What else is happening at the Halloween show?
Skin Diamond: There’s going to be a few different acts. Hudsy Hawn is going to be performing as well. Sunny Megatron and Ken Melvoin-Berg are going to be doing a show. There’s going to be a lot of things going on. Anyone who comes is going to get very, very spoiled from the entertainment.
Stockroom: Can you tell me what you like about latex fetish clothing?
Skin Diamond: I like how it feels, I like how it looks, I like how it kind of squeezes everything together and makes everything very refined-looking, I like that there’s a huge variety of latex clothing. It’s gotten to the point now where you can even go out to the clubs and wear latex because there’s more fashion-0rientated stuff. I like that aspect of it. You can just throw on a latex vest over your regular clothes and complete the outfit, or you can do a whole heavy rubber look for different events. There so much to it. That’s what I like about it.
Stockroom: Do you have any favorite types or articles that you especially enjoy?
Skin Diamond: I tend to wear dresses a lot. I like dresses. I like lingerie. I love corsets — heavy rubber corsets are definitely a favorite. I especially like costumes, latex costumes. Then it’s more fun with military or nurse outfits or whatever. I like dressing up, because it is dressing up. It’s an event to wear latex. Latex is not the easiest thing to just throw on. So it’s fun when you get to dress up and make it a costume.
Stockroom: Do you usually dress up for Halloween?
Skin Diamond: Oh, always. Last year I was kind of lazy, because I was in Scotland for a wedding. But one year I dressed up like Marie Laveau from American Horror Story, which was really fun because I did like the old-school look with the turban and the full dress. But even if I don’t really go for it, I always dress up in some way, shape, or form, even if it’s just putting on some face paint and drawing on a costume.
