What is National Kink Month?
October 2013 is the second annual National Kink Month: A 31 day celebration of kinky sex, fetishes, and those who have them! Last year’s Kink Month was a huge hit, and we want to make sure that we top it this year! To that end, we’ve expanded from the previous precision-focus on BDSM and bondage to reach out and welcome all kinky people into The Stockroom’s warm embraces!
Let’s face it, kinky people have to deal with a lot of sideways stares whenever their sexual predilections are made visible. We spend so much of our lives living either in fear of discovery, or within a close-knit group of like-minded people to avoid discomfort, work and social repercussions, or even family estrangement. Even if the results aren’t as obviously dire as losing your livelihood or loved ones, it can be heartbreaking to feel like the butt of someone else’s jokes for an unusual attraction.
So we’ve created a celebration of all kinks and kinky culture. Our aim is to provide you with the best information possible on a wide range of fetishes and -philias, to make you knowledgeable and stimulate your *ahem* mind.

A) Take up to 10 pictures of your slave doing what they do best. (Keep it safe for work, please) Need suggestions?
B) Upload photos to Instagram*. Use #slavelaborday to tag your picture.
C) Send an email to contest@stockroom.com with your Instagram username, number of entries, date of birth (for age verification), and contact information (along with preferred method of contact).
If we choose your entry, you win! Grand prize is a deluxe kit worth over $400!

Our Kinky Book Report Contest is over!
Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry. We wish everyone could win our grand prize, but, like The Highlander, there can be only one. Congratulations to the winner, who will receive a set of all in-print Daedalus Publishing titles and a $100 gift certificate to The Stockroom! All contestants will receive a little something for their efforts, so if you entered, be sure to check your email in the next few days! Our grand prize winner has been notified by email.
Here is the winning entry, a report on one of our favorite books, The Ultimate Guide To Kink by Tristan Taormino:

This is an amazing book written from many perspectives. It is a great resource for beginners as well as people who have been in the scene for years. The book is divided into two parts with the first being about skills and techniques and the second about fantasies and philosophies. Each author’s voice comes through in topics such as bondage, tantra, fisting, piercing, role play, sadism, and masochism (among others). Each concept is described in such a way as to make them accessible to those who have never participated while also giving friendly tips and reminders for other readers who have engaged in these various activities.
Taormino’s book gives just enough flavor to the beginning kinkster to whet their appetite that they might go on to find another resource with more in depth information. Each author is well known for the topic they have written about and while I personally did not recognize all the names, I am familiar with, and have met, a couple of these authors.
True not everything will appeal to every reader, but The Ultimate Guide to Kink can provide a safe way to learn about various kinks and allow the reader to see what might be interesting or exciting to explore. As someone who is working toward a Doctorate in Human Sexuality and needs to be as informed about all sexuality as is possible, I was enthralled by (nearly) every part of this text. There were some sections that I did not expect to enjoy: the chapter about piercing, for example, but I was surprised at how “not scary” it seemed.
