Not to toot our own horn, but we have some happy news to announce: The Stockroom is now the proud holder of its first U.S. Patent for the Bolero Straitjacket™!
Handmade in our Los Angeles workshop, the Bolero Straitjacket has been one of our signature designs since its introduction in 2009, when we
filed our patent application. Each jacket is individually created by our in-house production team to ensure the highest quality of each and every straitjacket we produce.
The Patent Office grants a patent when the filing party demonstrates that they have created a product or design that is novel, non-obvious, and useful. Although a straitjacket restraint has been in existence for over 200 years, the design of the Bolero Straitjacket, with its cut-out chest, allows an examiner to take the heartbeat of the wearer, attach and detach electrodes easily, or monitor vital signs while in restraints. Simultaneously, the open chest design reduces chafing and overheating, permitting secure restraint without the intimidation factor of a traditional institutional straitjacket.
The Stockroom patent on the Bolero Straitjacket means that it cannot be legally manufactured or sold in the United States without a licensefrom The Stockroom. Adult and fetish specialty stores may carry the Bolero, but be sure to keep an eye out for counterfeits. Real Bolero Straitjackets are made of high quality leather or latex, so if a deal is too good to be believed, or the seller is overseas, be cautious. All Boleros have a Stockroom tag. Newly made Boleros will have a tag proudly displaying the patent number. Aside from its medical properties, the Bolero is a stunning piece of fetish wear, combining fashion and restraint in a single design. The adjustable chest strap is one of the most significant innovations by securing the garment beneath the ribcage, rather than between the legs. This is a marked improvement over the classic between-the-legs style of restraint that keeps the jacket on the patient, but does not necessarily restrict the wearer from moving around with little resistance. D-rings placed at the front of the collar and mid-torso make attaching a leash or other bondage gear a snap.
Available in red leather, black leather, perforated black leather, and black latex, the Bolero is versatile enough to use in almost any scenario, from medical play, to costumed role play, or wherever else your imagination takes you.
